In every Basic Training and Boot Camp class, new military recruits are taught not only the modern skills necessary for their new vocation but the history, customs, and courtesies that have persisted for over 200 years and give us a sense of continuity, a sense that we are truly part of something larger than ourselves. Part of our mission at VFW Post 4103 is to seek out and preserve the things – the personal accounts, photos, letters, and artifacts – that tell our story and the story of those who served before us.
We are in the process of collecting information on the history of the VFW, history of our Post, and history of our individual members. Our Post participates in the Veterans History Project, a Library of Congress initiative to preserve the memories of those who served through oral interviews. We also welcome donations of militaria, photos, and other artifacts with a name and a story attached.
